Culture Past Culture Future European Youth Competition

The Culture Past Culture Future Competition is a joint EUNIC Greece project organised by the British Council, the Goethe-Institut, the Danish Institute, the Instituto Cervantes, the House of Cyprus, the Swedish Institute and the Hellenic Foundation of Culture in partnership with the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.
The competition is organised within the framework of the international conference taking place in Athens on 24-27 November 2010 entitled The Athens Dialogues International Conference.
The competition invites a younger generation (aged between 21 and 30) of students, scientists, researchers, academics, journalists, writers, artists and theorists from 50 European countries to contribute to a dialogue about the legacy of Greek culture and thinking in addressing the challenges of the 21st century.
Candidates are invited to submit a paper or essay of up to 3,000 words addressing one of the following six themes to be discussed at The Athens Dialogues International Conference:
a) Identity and Difference
b) Stories and Histories
c) Word and Art
d) Democracy and Governance
e) Science and Ethics
f) Quality of Life
The format of the paper/essay is open, which means that candidates may choose a formal academic paper or an essay.
The deadline for submitting papers is 15th June 2010.
Winners will have their papers published on the Athens Dialogues web portal and will be invited to attend the Conference (expenses paid.)
